This tool is a work of art. So glad I finally decided to go for it. It’s so well designed and gets a lot of attention on the job site. My third tool from Bridge City, they never disappoint.
Just lost a hand ( non-dominant ). Will have an opinion soon.
HP-12 Dual Angle Bench Plane
Outstanding quality
My review title says it all. This is a fantasic tool I don 't think i will ever use anlther plane. No reason to - this plane does it ALL and it's beautiful while doing it.
I have a half dozen tools from Bridge City Tools including 3 planes. Both, the HP-8 and the HP-12 are amazing. John rethought the entire hand plane design that everyone uses or modifies. The result is an intriguing and wonderful new concept. The way these planes capture the blade is an engineering marvel, and designing a reversible blade with two different bevels is brilliant. They are striking in their appearance, but John was quick to point out that he meant for them to be used, not just displayed. And, yes, they are remarkable users.
Beautiful
I bought this primarily to set up for high angle work. Honed at 50 degrees, the plane makes whisper thin shavings in figured white oak and exotics like jatoba and purple heart. The grooved blade is great for dealing with crazy grain but if you are intentional with your plane strokes, it also makes for a cool texture.
The performance is worth the purchase price. Comfortable to use, easily glides and shaves wood like no other plane I own. Aesthetics are like no other. I really am impressed with the quality, micro adjust is a pleasure.
Amaizing!!! Simply the best plane that I ever used

Welcome to the workshop of ferz.woodworkThe HP-12 Dual Angle Bench Plane, designed by John Economaki, founder of Bridge City Tool Works, is unlike any other smoother - past or present. This lightweight plane is one of the most versatile and usable planes.Included with the HP-12 are two irons for a total of four distinctly different grind angles. The 42 degree attack angle is for low angle work. The 47 degree attack angle is for standard work. The 60 degree attack angle is for difficult grains and a scrub grind is included and designed to be used for quick cross grain flattening of wavy or difficult grained stock.
